Vinden Gamay Shiraz Gewurz 2022

$42

Made from 60% Gamay this is a new release from the rising Vinden Estate. A healthy fist full of Shiraz to flesh out the middle and some restrained Gewurz for aromatics and acid this is a bright and crunchy summer red. Well worth a slight chill before slipping into the picnic basket. In the years to come Angus (and us) look forward to the bottling of a 100% Hunter Gamay but in the meantime this is an exciting introduction to a new story.

"Vinden Wines, formerly known as Vinden Estate, was founded in 1990 and is now under the guidance of second-generation winemaker and viticulturist Angus Vinden. All of our wines are handcrafted at our winery on Vinden Estate, with minimal intervention on-site, from hand-picked grapes.

Since taking over in 2015, Angus has maintained the original heritage label, Vinden Wines, which possesses a traditional Hunter style as well as producing his offshoot label allowing a more experimental approach The Vinden Headcase - balancing tradition with innovation" - Vinden

"Meticulous viticulture, a gentle approach to winemaking and respect for the land and Hunter traditions, result in a mixture of both modern and traditional Hunter Valley styles. Angus was also named a ‘Dark Horse’ winery watch, in the 2018 Halliday Wine companion" - AJ Wine Merchant
