Ravensworth Sangiovese 2019
Bryan Martin is the ultra-talented, ultra-humble man behind Ravensworth, but he is also responsible for doing a bit of work for the very prestigious Clonakilla. In his spare time he bakes his own bread, cures his own meats, makes sherry, and hoons around Canberra listening to Eazy-E. A true renaissance man.
The sangiovese in this is multi regional, from different sites in Canberra as well as Hilltops. It is meaty and tannic, but lots of bright character in the cherry and spice that permeate the grunt of the structure. This is the drinking of Earth featuring Mark Lanegan, dark, forboding on the outside, but generous and velvetine in it's delivery.
