Mallaluka Syrah 2021

Sam Leyshon has well and truly taken Mallaluka into great places, while still maintaining the vision of his dad, and producing fine, extremely high value wines. There is a genuineness and integrity to these wines, that reflect where they come from.

Notes from the Leyshon family:

Fruit in equal parts from Gundagai, Hilltops and Canberra District regions. 30% whole bunch fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Basket pressed into seasoned French oak barriques for 10 months maturation. Blended before bottling. No fining or filtration.

Silky, floral, delicate with a persistent back bone that drives this wine with a long finishing palate. Let it open up to allow the classic darker fruits to show off. Hold some back for a few years if you can. You’ll be rewarded with some cellar time for sure.

Grape: Syrah
