Claus Preisinger Blaufrankisch 2020

It is always an exciting time of the year when Claus' wines come rolling in. He is the kickstart to the heart for a new and exciting scene among winemakers in Austria, focusing on native varietals, and minimal intervention winemaking. Nab while you can.

Classic blaufrankisch, with that delightful boysenberry flavour and inky texture, with crunchy, fresh acid, but with a tender hand to bottle, so is such a crusher.

The Blaufränkisch grapes are grown on limestone ‘Kalkstein’ soils, and mainly come from the Leithaberg site, which gives the wine a lifted, mineral profile. The grapes spent 10 days on the skins, and is semi-carbonically fermented in inox tanks. The wine is then aged in 3000 litre and 500 litre oak barrels. - LoFi, importers.
