These wines epitomise everything we are about, good wine, made by good people. It doesn't hurt that the winemaker is a deadset legend, it hurts even less that the wines are outrageously good.
Words from the winemaker:
A delicate spiciness, and full red fruit palate. Cherry jam, blackberry and a mild leatheryness.
Saw roughly two weeks on skins, two separate parcels from separate regions, the Heathcote fruit came in super ripe, which is where you get the heavy jamminess from. Mostly daily pumpovers, switched to punchdowns when the wine had no sugar left. 9 months in neutral oak, bottled in Dec 2020. This wine is organic but not certified.
It was named in honour of Maggie, a sassy, vocal and assertive Australian Shepherd. Originally from Gippsland, she comes from a big litter of cheeky rascals.
We think this is perfect palate staining, juicy syrah, destined for long, smoky evenings, trawling through the record shelves with a significant other, platonic or otherwise. So good.
