Cult favourite Frank Cornelissen, highly regarded amongst the natural wine community for years for his volcanic terroir-driven wines and his no-holds-barred approach to making them crossed over into the mainstream conscious after Action Bronson became very vocal about his appreciation of the wines, especially the Susucaru.
This is the flagship release, wrangling the local variety of nerello mascalese into a very serious wine. If the aforementioned Susucaru is Bronson, then this is Ghostface Killah, there are similarities, but there's a little more depth here, explosive flavour and that volcanic minerality really shines through. Cook everything over a fire and drink this.
Frank says:
"A rich and fragrant wine of pure Nerello Mascalese from different vineyards, partly from our crus as well as the designated plots: Chiusa Spagnola, Rampante, Monte Colla, Feudo di Mezzo, Piano Daini and Crasà. A classic, traditional pure Nerello Mascalese with smooth tannins and sweetness of ripe fruit. A classic Etna Rosso from the Northern Valley. Organic wine certification."
