Travis Tausend Ari Pet Nat 2021

Travis Tausend we first met when he was manning the helm of Høst Wine Imports, where he brought some of the most esoteric and intriguing wines into the country, capturing the imagination of drinkers nationwide.

His own wines that he makes from the Adelaide Hills are an extension of his own personailty, engaging, in touch with the earth and full of bright intensity.

I asked Travis to match an album with each of these new releases to which he kindly obliged, with a succinct explanation, followed by his notes on the wines.

Ari : Orville peck “pony” - why: purely because it’s Ari’s favourite album.

My first effort at pet nat and I think this is a banger. Looks cloudy in the bottle as there was no disgorging of the wine. Really happy with the 50 / 50 blend of chardonnay and pinot here. The varieties were hand picked and direct pressed together, settled in stainless and co fermented. The wine was bottled just prior to the end of primary ferment. To be honest I wasn’t 100% sure if it would fizz, but a couple months after making it we opened one and it was pretty spot on.
