Brash Higgins Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Brash Higgins make expressive, character-driven wines that play to a slightly different beat than the other McLaren Vale bands. A mixture of traditional and more obscure techniques make for an expansive fanbase, and the wines just keep getting better.
Although being true to both varietal and region, there is a rambunctious energy to this wine that supersedes the category of McLaren Vale cab sauv.
Some notes from Brad himself - ‘Perfumed nose; caraway seeds, floral, sweet mint, blueberries and cassis, with spicy notes of Earl Grey tea, and Dutch liquorice. On the palate the wine is smooth and rich with the sweet earthiness of roasted root vegetables, the acidity of rhubarb and the dark lusciousness of black currants. Layered and complex, the 2018 finishes with lovely sweet notes as well as that typical cabernet tannin keeping the wine taut.’ – Brad Hickey, Vinitor, November 2020.
